Cheryle Sherwood, Registered Psychologist

Hi, I’m Cheryle Sherwood

I am a registered psychologist with over 20 years of experience working in mental health, including hospital psychiatry and private practice. My work focuses on helping adults understand complex concerns, develop practical strategies, and move forward with clarity and confidence.

I work with individuals whose experiences are often layered or difficult to untangle without careful assessment and thoughtful exploration. My approach is collaborative, evidence-based, and grounded in respect for each person’s unique history and strengths.

Therapy is not about quick fixes — it is about understanding patterns, building skills, and creating sustainable change that fits your life.

Professional Experience & Approach

As a Registered Psychologist with experience in both hospital and private practice settings, my background includes outpatient and community-based work in psychological assessment and psychotherapy with adults presenting with a wide range of concerns.

I work with adults experiencing anxiety, trauma, ADHD, hoarding behaviours and neurodevelopmental differences, complex and overlapping presentations, and other patterns of psychological distress. My approach is grounded in evidence-based practice and tailored to each individual’s goals, strengths, and lived experience.

I value clarity, collaboration, and practical insight. In my work, I support clients in developing a deeper understanding of themselves, identifying patterns, and building effective strategies for navigating life transitions, stressors, and ongoing challenges in a thoughtful and supportive way.

How I Work

How I Work

My work is grounded in evidence-based practice, clinical experience, and a careful appreciation for the complexity of each individual’s history, strengths, and current circumstances. I take a thoughtful and structured approach that balances understanding, practical strategy, and compassion.

Many people I work with have previously engaged in therapy and found parts of it helpful, but incomplete — or felt their experiences were oversimplified. My role is to carefully examine and understand patterns thoroughly to help clients in developing a clearer and more accurate understanding of what is influencing their concerns.

I do not believe in one-size-fits-all solutions. Therapy and assessment are most effective when they are collaborative, clearly explained, and adapted to the individual’s goals, values, and real-world demands.

Evidence-Informed

My clinical decisions are guided by current research, professional training, and ongoing learning, integrated with the individual context of each client.

Thoughtful & Structured

Sessions are purposeful and focused, with attention to identifying patterns, increasing clarity, and developing practical strategies over time.

Collaborative

Clients bring essential knowledge about their own experiences. Therapy works best when we combine this with clinical expertise, revisiting and refining the approach as new insight develops.
